Celebrating its 20th concert season, the Westben is pulling out all the stops for the big anniversary, offering a lineup packed with top-notch musical, comedy and theatrical performances. Since its inaugural year in 1999, this not-for-profit theatre company has been putting on shows in a unique, outdoorsy setting in rural Northumberland County to wow locals and tourists alike. Pop, jazz, folk, Broadway and opera music have all found a home here since singer Donna Bennett and composer Brian Finley first brought their passion for performing to Donna’s hometown.

The main stage is affectionately termed “The Barn,” but don’t let its rustic look fool you: The Barn was custom-built to provide an unparalleled acoustic experience for audiences. Live music and other shows run through summer and fall, capped off by the Westben Christmas Carol, an annual favourite that plays each November.

Highlights of the 2019 season include musical performances by Basia Bulat and Rose Cousins, and stand-up comedy by Brent Butt. Bring the whole family to The Snow Queen, performed by the Canadian Children’s Opera Company, or unleash your inner disco queen at ABBA MIA!, a musical review of the pop hits of ABBA. This summer, the theatre will also continue its growing Jazz Fringe Festival, which runs from August 2 to 4 and features local jazz musicians in various locations throughout downtown Campbellford.

Not only is going to the Westben a great way to support the local arts scene, it really is a memorable experience. We’ll be updating our events calendar with other Westben happenings throughout the summer, so come back often for news on upcoming performances.
