A good coffee shop is like a home away from home. And the great thing about our area is you’ll never have trouble finding a good cup of joe.
13 Main St.
End of the Thread is a must-see for anyone stopping in Brighton. A beautifully curated antique shop that features furniture and decor with an eye for modern design, this family-owned establishment also boasts some of the best coffee around. Fresh bagels, muffins and cookies will keep you coming back for multiple visits, and just try not to leave with a one-of-a-kind vintage piece to spruce up your digs.
16 Bridge St. N
This place gets a mention simply for being one of the friendliest places you’ll ever visit in Northumberland. Not only do they serve excellent coffee and a huge selection of teas, they make their butter tarts on site, as well as an assortment of other baked goods. As you might have guessed from the name, they also serve pizza. To eat in or to go, their pizza goes surprisingly well with coffee.
2 Queen St.
Port Hope, Ont.
Dreamers made the list not only for its coffee but for its atmosphere, whimsical décor and friendly service. Their coffee is great and pairs beautifully with the blueberry pie. Like their decor, their baked goods are over-the-top. Famous for their “Crazy Cookie,” a chocolate chunk cookie with pecans, a centre of gooey caramel, and drizzled with even more chocolate, the Dreamer’s Café experience is definitely worth making the drive for.
4 King St. W.
Silky foam tops the delicious lattes at this shop in downtown Cobourg, which also serves house-made cinnamon rolls, pies and other baked goods. Stop in for lunch and try their salads and wraps; they always have something vegan on the menu, if that’s your preference. The space is warm, light and cozy, and provides a friendly atmosphere whether you’re meeting a friend or just want to tuck into a good book.
49 Front St.
